Happy Birthday Carter!
Today we celebrated Carter's 8th birthday with a party at the Malco. The movie was "Hotel For Dogs" which inspired Beth to make an encore Dalmation cake. Carter's friends are AWESOME birthday gift shoppers and he received a mountain of super cool stuff. His friends definitely are aware of his obsession with dinosaurs! Thanks to everyone who helped celebrate Carter's big day!

Happy Valentines Day!
We haven't posted much for 2009 yet, so better late than never. As usual, we started our Saturday morning with a great family breakfast, except today there were chocolates on the table! Sorry for all the barking, but Molly had to spend time outside and was not happy that Lulu was inside with us!
We also made a special Valentine's cake for Beth (not for breakfast but after dinner!). It is a white cake with blackberry/strawberry/raspberry jam in the middle with white almond+vanilla frosting and shaved coconut on the outside. On top are fresh blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. It was yummy!!
Lastly, we made fresh candied orange slices. They have to "dry" for 24 hours so tomorrow we will finish them by dipping halfway in melted chocolate. These run about $4 each at Godiva and Dinstuhl's (and are worth it since more than one will make you sick) but are super easy to make at home and taste even fresher. Maybe tomorrow I will post a picture of the finished product.

Finally!
Carter got an Ant Farm for Christmas and we sent away for the ants by mail last month. For the past two weeks Carter has been getting worried that the ants would NEVER come. They FINALLY arrived today - Friday the 13th! Do you think they will escape and eat us in our sleep?
Here is the envelope they were mailed in:
They make the trip packed in this tiny test tube:
Good advice - these buggers have some JAWS:
Happily exploring their new home of mystery green goo:
Happy Camper!!
